Specialist Leaders in Research (SLR) – Recruitment Round

Doncaster Research School are looking to recruit a pilot cohort of Specialist Leaders in Research (SLR) across Doncaster. The SLRs will contribute to evidence informed school improvement and will be designated by Doncaster Research School, with SLE automatic designation through Partners in Learning Teaching School.
What is an SLR? SLRs are outstanding teachers, who are middle and senior leaders with the skills to support individuals or teams in similar positions in other schools. They understand what outstanding leadership of evidence-informed school improvement looks like and are skilled in helping other leaders to achieve it in their own context.
Duration: There is no pre-defined time commitment for SLR work as models and types of deployment vary according to need and capacity. This will be a minimum of 6 days per academic year.
Commitment: successful applicants must have a commitment to lead training and networks, supporting practitioners to engage in research and evidence informed practice, with the full support of their Headteacher.
Cost: There is no cost to apply. Successful applicants will be entitled to some training at no cost to their school. When SLR work is planned and booked, the Research School will reimburse the SLRs host school at the SLE rate of pay as per the Partner in Learning Teaching School.
The process is similar to that for designating Specialist Leaders of Education. There is an application form to complete which requires a statement from your Headteacher.

Applicants notified: 18th April
Interview date: 9th May
Interview outcome: 10th May
Induction training: June – date tbc
Ready for deployment: September
